Janette Heitz co-owner of The 2 Seasons Blog

I am an empty-nester living with my husband in downtown Lexington. We have lived on a ten-acre plot of land, lived in the suburbs, and then decided to downsize to a townhouse 11 years ago. After living there for eight years, we decided to up-size to another townhouse around the corner. We spent nine months remodeling it, and now we are perfectly settled in and love it. Some of my hobbies include entertaining, bicycling and traveling. Along with my husband, we started bicycling when our youngest child went to college. Since then I have ridden across the USA, from the top to the bottom of France, from the bottom of England to the top of Scotland, from Spain to Dakar, Senegal (through the Sahara desert), from Ho Chi Min City to Bangkok, from Vientianne, Laos to Hanoi, and much more in many other countries. I have also been to 85 countries and am about to add three more.
For the past 20 years (skipping last year), my husband and I have organized a group of friends to volunteer in a developing country and do some good. We have built schools, repaired orphanages, remodeled homes, built homes, and more. We have done this on six continents and are going to Guyana next February to do volunteer work there.
