Meet Nathan Baker, Property Manager with Anderson Communities!

My name is Nathan. I am a dog lover, a coffee addict, and love to cook. I am a Property Manager with Anderson Communities and have been in the multi-family/real estate industry for almost 7 years now. As a Kentucky native, I have lived in a couple of different places during my life but fate brought me back to my hometown of Nicholasville where I live just down the road from my grandparents.
Q: How long have you lived/worked in Lexington?

I was born in Lexington, and spent a couple of years in Nicholasville but grew up most of my life in Oldham County. I moved back to Lexington in 2014 with a small-time spent in Richmond and now reside in Nicholasville, just down the road from my grandparents (talk about a full-circle moment).

Q: What led you to your current career and why do you love it?

I have always had a love for the real estate industry as I can remember growing up and watching HGTV’s House Hunters with my family. Originally my plan was to use getting into the multi-family industry as a segway to get into real estate but once I got in, I couldn’t get out.

Q: What would you like for people to know about your job/business?

We are not as bad as people may think and we love getting to know our residents!

Q: What or who has been your biggest inspiration?

Probably my mom. She has always believed in me and seen how strong of a woman she is with all she has dealt with while we were growing up. I only hope I can be 1/2 as strong as she is.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Lexington and what is your go-to item on the menu?

I don’t think I can choose just one favorite. But I really like Pasta Garage and their gnocchi. Malones is always a good choice and their Lexingtonian salad is so good. Also can’t go wrong at Osaka and their sweet potato roll.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I would love to go to Italy or Paris during the spring or summer. Getting to consume all the fresh food and pastries, I mean…yum!

Q: What is your favorite thing about Lexington?

I love how small our city feels even with it is a growing city. There is just something about having a downtown feel without it being overwhelming like you have with larger cities.

Q: Where do you take friends and family from out of town when they visit?

Love the distillery district during the warmer months and they have so much to do out there now!

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Hopefully having more time and freedom to travel more with my partner, Truston, and getting to explore all the different places we want to see.

Q: If you could have lunch with any living person, who would it be?

Honestly – it’s a like 3-way tie between either, Ina Garten, Taylor Swift, or Adele.

Q: Where can we find you on your day off?

More than likely at home with the dogs and my partner enjoying some R&R.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

Skydiving.. I think – it’s on the list but if I would actually end up doing it I am not sure.

Q: What is something that most people don’t know about you?

In high school, I got to travel to over 7 countries in Europe and it was one of the best experiences.

Q: What is a topic you wish you knew more about?

Personal Finances – because I wish I was better with money and they don’t teach you that kind of stuff in school.

Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show & what are you currently binge-watching?

We love any of the Real Housewife franchises. Just recently finished binge-watching Inventing Anna. If you haven’t watched that yet you definitely should.

Q: What do you feel that is an essential part of your daily or weekly routine that contributes to your overall well-being?

Coffee is probably #1.

Q: If you were cast in a movie, who would your co-star be?

Meryl Streep for sure. I mean come on…Devil Wears Prada – so good!

Q: Who is your go-to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?

Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, or Adele

Q: If you could give advice to any group of people, what would it be?

I have to even still remind myself of this all the time. But just remember that everyone is on their own path and you don’t know where someone else came from to get where they are. So comparing your life to someone else’s and what they share with the world does not help you get where you want to go in life.
